Matthew 18

Next week is Sanctity of Human Life week (January 20-27, 2008). Check out Focus on the Family for some great resources. In our reading today from Matthew 18 Jesus covers the issue perfectly--doesn't he always? SWC
At that time the disciples came to Jesus, saying, “Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” And calling to him a child, he put him in the midst of them and said, “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. “Whoever receives one such child in my name receives me, but whoever causes one of these little ones who believe in me to sin, it would be better for him to have a great millstone fastened around his neck and to be drowned in the depth of the sea, Matthew 18:1-6 (ESV)

Hi Pastor,
I wrote this before, but for some reason I didn't get it to post.
This really has nothing to do with the current reading, but thought you might like to know how the Lord used our reading material.
I was at my bank and I asked the fine young man what his name was. He replied "Matthew". I then said, "That is the name of the first book of the New testament" He kindof ducked his head, a little embarrased, and then said "that is what I am named after" I then told him that our church was reading in that book now. Then he took more courage and stated that his Grandfather and Father had been associated with the old Line churches (Lutheran and Presbyterian) Next he proudly stated that he attends a Non-Denominational church in Bellevue. I asked him if he was a Christian and he proudly said "Yes".
I told him that I was originally a Presbyterian, and when they put our Pastor out we started a Non-Denominational Church. Then when I moved to Seattle I became a Baptist. I intend to continue our little dialogue the next time I go there.CJJ
